This is show loosely based on the life of Jack Parsons, an American inventor and Thelema practitioner. The story starts with Jack as an ambitious inventor with a blue collar job as a janitor. It also follows his involvement with a strange religious sect and his drive to reach for the stars, literally.
It is a slow burner. It starts off with a gentle pacing and seems rather uninteresting at first. At the same time has this subtle hold or compulsion on the audience. Their patience is rewarded abundantly with each passing episode. The settings of the series is absolutely perfect. It properly immerses the audience in the 40’s America, giving them a feel of that reality.
I also love how much attention is given to the characters, as the grow in each passing episode, yet still have this constant stability in their characteristics. Basically a good character arch. The performance of the cast is also good. It is even better as the cast are not even A-listers but totally killed it.
