The series is a prequel to the novel Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. The story is that of a pirate crew in search of a treasure hold. It is also the origin of Long John Silver, a character in the novel mentioned above.

The show is nothing short of great. Great writing to make for an effortless plot, with well written characters portrayed by a talented cast.

Black Sails has it all. Be it politics, adventure, mystery, thriller, action, you name it. And all these were carefully fixed to be compatible with each other. It made for a nearly divine combination.

So many interesting characters are here. Some of them are based on real life people, some fiction, but all were well written with so much care and attention. This efforts were made even better with the astounding performance by the cast. This show makes for a pleasant weekend. Enjoy.
