If you are a fan of the classic The Godfather and the critically acclaimed crime drama Narcos, if you also love the work of the cinematic legend Martin Scorsese, then this show is for you. It has all the elements of the above. It is brutal, bloody, gritty and sexy. A smartly written and well directed series. Its cast are incredible and a shout out to the producers of the show. They really outdid themselves in this period crime drama.

It is set in the 20’s during the Prohibition Era in America, the rise of bootlegging and the making of the American Mafia. It also tells the story of Enoch ‘Nucky’ Thompson, a corrupt politician in Atlantic City, New Jersey, with deep and wide network of ties to the criminal underworld.

So you are in for series of plots, thriller, alliances and good old fashioned violence of the highest order. If that is your thing. Then I recommend the show. It is both entertaining and aesthetic. Finally, as a period piece, it does well to put the audience in the same timeline as the characters. Mob enthusiasts will also love this show, because it has the names of true legends in the American Underworld like Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, John Torrio, Al Capone, Arnold Rothstein and Bugsy Siegel. You can say the series is a semi-fiction. A true story with creative liberties, in the hands of competent filmmakers.
